Paul Rand

I wan to introduce a famous designer, which you guys are familiar with. Paul Rand was an American art director and graphic designer. He was born in 1914 and died in 1996. Paul Rand has some of the most widely-known contributions of graphic designs to corporate companies. Logos such as UPS and Cummins Engine are only a couple examples of his famous work. I really like the way he using type and geometry shapes to create logo it’s simple but impressive. He can turn some very complex things into a very simple stuff.

Paul Rand's most popular logo was probably the IBM logo which was designed in 1956. It literally shows a picture of an eye (I), the animal shape of a bee (B) and the letter M. This design is so smart that people can read the message really quick by look this image.

Like all (or most) graphic designers, Paul started with simple projects. This proves that the majority of employees have to work their way up in the world and take constructive criticism on a positive note. Anyone has the chance to be spectacular; it just takes a lot of time and effort. Everyone has to start somewhere!
